Already in 2019, we shipped the first batch of roofing soil from Chernihiv region and within a couple of years we were supplying up to half of the needs of the Ukrainian mushroom growing market. This is not a coincidence, but the result of hard work, development of technologies and team processes, as well as the search for the best formulas for our products.
The idea of creating a company began with a friendly conversation and partnership. Therefore, the most important thing in business is human relations. The name "TorfFine" comes from a combination of two words: peat and fine, which reflects respect for the main natural resource and the beauty of the Ukrainian language.
For us, peat is not just a raw material. It is living matter, the basis of fertility, a symbol of environmentalism in action and partnership for years.
We survived the crisis of the first year, Covid-19, a forced stop in 2022, relocation to the Lviv region and a return to the Chernihiv region - and despite all the difficulties, we continue to work for our clients and partners.
We are proud to work transparently: for every ton of peat extracted, the company "PeatfFine" pays taxes to the state budget. In the Chernihiv region, we cooperate with the State Enterprise "Chernihivtorf", which has all the relevant licenses and permits. This guarantees the legality, safety and high quality of our raw materials.
Ukraine is among the countries in Europe with the largest peat reserves. Our production is located in a region with unique natural conditions: here peat was formed over millennia in swamp ecosystems rich in minerals, organic remains and microorganisms. Due to this, it has balanced physicochemical characteristics, which make it a valuable raw material for mushroom growing, plant growing, and biotechnology.
For PeatFine, peat is not just a material, but a living basis for further technological processes. We use raw materials that meet licensing requirements and work exclusively with all necessary extraction permits.Therefore, in the Chernihiv region, we are in partnership with the Chernihivtorf State Enterprise. This allows us to guarantee transparency, legality, and product quality.

The peculiarity of mushroom cultivation is that the roofing soil does not lose its value after use. On the contrary, it acquires a “second life.” Enriched with organic matter and microflora, such peat becomes an excellent fertilizer and structure-forming agent in crop production.Its return to the soil helps restore fertility, improves water and air permeability, and promotes moisture retention.
Most of our clients are Ukrainian producers. This means that the peat used in mushroom cultivation is returned to fields throughout Ukraine, making our soils more alive and productive. Together, we are creating a sustainable agricultural system where the resource is not wasted, but works for the future.

The founder and director of the company is Vitaliy Smirnov. His story is the path of a person who is always driven by resilience and a thirst for development. Even the forced loss of his native Donetsk and a successful business in 2014 and the trials of war did not prevent him from starting new projects.
